Want a Tower On Your Property?

I get calls daily from people that want to attract carriers or tower companies to their property, despite the fact I discourage these calls throughout this site.

As a general- almost universal- rule, potential tenants come looking for you as opposed to you looking for them. 99.99% of property is worthless to them. The only site they care about is one where they have made the determination to do a build, and they know that wherever they need a site, they'll find suitable land.

Despite this, carriers and tower companies are bombarded every day by such unsolicited inquiries, so much that it is a distraction to them. Most of their web sites direct you to a link where you can submit your property's location and characteristics. I was assured by one carrier's real estate director that they do not use the candidates submitted in the data base as potential sites, but instead use it as a misdirection, to reduce the number of phone calls they get from hungry landowners.

I have often thought about what I might be able to do to help assist landowners in this regard, and have come up with nothing. As I tell people, if there was a model by which I could effectively attract carriers to individual properties, I would have a bunch of cell sites on land I owned. I have none.

The one thing that MAY get a carrier's interest in your general area is if their coverage there is bad (legitimately, don't go making stuff up) and they hear from enough people about it. That may actually cause them to give the area a look for coverage gaps.

I am not trying to dissuade you from trying, but want people to have realistic expectations, and there is nothing we can do to help.
